A Successful Cleanup on Ave. 50
August 22, 2010
A small but sturdy crew of volunteers weathered high temps on Saturday to complete another successful cleanup off Ave. 50 at Milo Terrace. The abandoned corner lot, a commercial building that has been on the market for a couple of years, had wildly overgrown weeds, hedges and bougainvilleas. Intensive guru Phil, Elizabeth, Maria, Patria and Meredith worked from 8 to 11 AM cutting, raking and sweeping and were joined by Field Rep. Liberty Mesa from Councilman Jose Huizar’s office and we recruited Rev. Dan from the neighborhood church on the corner. A few neighbors lent us their green bins and four were filled. HP90042 thanks Bussard’s All Pro Automotive Center (on York) for again contributing coffee, pastries and water (and manpower) to our ongoing effort to beautify our Highland Park neighborhood.
Who is ready to volunteer with us in September and October to help cleanup the neighborhood and make a difference? We have something a little different going in September (details tba). Sign up and let us know you’re able and willing. Send an email to aldamaheights [at] gmail [dot] com to be on our action event list or leave a comment below.
Let’s gear up for a vibrant and productive Fall 2010 and continue the momentum!

GO GUYS GO!
I’m so sorry I missed this one.
I really hope to join you soon.
Also, I’d love to help clear the steps that lead from Montezuma to Ave 50 as that is the way we walk to school (which starts Sept 13th!) and they are totally overgrown and tend to collect graffiti.
My kids and I cleaned them up twice last year. But, I think they are on to my tricks and may not help again. :O)
Go HP!
